My Lucky Charm

My Lucky Charm

I rushed towards the elevator as I was already late for the meeting. Everything was screwed after missing her glance in the morning. It was my routine since childhood when on a result day I scored ninety percent in a paper I hardly wrote anything sensible after seeing her face in the morning. She lived in adjacent society so getting a glance of her without her knowledge was not a difficult task. Today also I waited for her about half an hour but she didn't come, she had left before me or would come late. Then I saw punctured car, metro was facing some problem and auto rickshaw charge double, nothing happened as planned.

As I closed the elevator door someone hurriedly opened it and came inside. I was shocked to see her in that lift. I always wanted to meet her. Although I looked at her secretly I never got the opportunity to have her so near to me.Neither I tried to say some words of admiration to her. At that moment when I gathered some courage to speak lift stopped. She was looking down in nervousness I could see worry on her face. Documents in her hand suggested that she was here for an interview. I didn't understand what to do at that time. I started blowing air with papers in my hand because fan in elevator was also not working. She looked upwards set her curls and smiled at that gesture of mine. I also smiled and for few minutes we just stared each other in that pin drop silence. My hand automatically moved towards her face when lift jerk shook us. I took back my hand.

After initial movement lift stopped again, she hugged me in anxiety, my heart started beating fast. I too hugged her tightly, lift started moving again when I hold her face in my hand. The door opened. "I have to get off here", she whispered in my ears. I looked around as if waked up from a sweet dream and released her suddenly from my hold. She smiled again and walked out. I saw her walking into an office without even looking back towards the lift where I was standing. My meeting after that was a successful one being able to touch my lucky charm this time. I still looked her silently when I needed some luck and she still walked passed me without any eye contact. That silent relationship is working very well. I always thinks that lucky is not the one who have any lucky charm but the one who is getting its luck constantly.

Bitter Bread

Bitter Bread
Bread, doubleroti, pao, bun or we call it with any other name; it is the part of our breakfast which completes our daily routine. This ready to eat item is popular with egg and butter but the recent study by Centre For Science and Environment (CSE) have turned this must breakfast eatable bitter.
CSE conducted test on various samples collected from different part of the capital belonging to different brands. They found 84% samples test positive for potassium bromate and potassium iodate after tests on 38 varieties which include Britannia,Harvest Gold,KFC, McDonalds, Domino's Pizza and Subway. These revelations are shocking and disturbing as all of us have eaten from one of these brands. It should also be noted that these two substances which are used to soften breads and enhance their color and texture namely potassium bromate and potassium iodate are banned in many countries of the world after a study conducted in the 90's. These substances however are not harmful a…

Braid Cutting - Truth or Rumors?

Braid Cutting - Truth or Rumor?

Mysterious braid (choti) cutting incidents has happened in Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi where women mostly around 50 years of age has their braids cut without their knowledge by some invisible source causing fear among women in these areas. Women also fell unconscious during the time of braid cutting which left them clueless about the attacker and made the incident mysterious. Police who have recorded the statements of victims deny any black magic involved in this which is rumored in the video circulated in social media groups. They are asserting that some miscreants are behind the incident.
The video allegedly claims that a woman is on a mission to cut 1008 women braids in order to get invisibility power according to a black magic ritual. I heard this news around a month ago from someone whose relatives live in Rajasthan. The incident was not in news at that time, I denied him saying that these are rumors or acts of miscreants and I still believe miscr…

Naive Traveler : City of Nawabs - Lucknow

Naive Traveler : City of Nawabs - Lucknow

Lucknow is known as The City of Nawabs the royal ruler of the city which gave it culinary & cultural identity like the way of talking I noticed while interacting with the people. The place is beautiful and has many things which can attract tourists to visit this city but I don’t find it tourist friendly as I observed in the other cities I visited like Agra,Jaipur, Dehradun, etc. As we came out of the station, there were no tourist autos or taxis available for city sightseeing thus left you unaware of what to do.
If we haven’t researched about the places and things to eat we couldn’t explore the city the way we did.

With our knowledge of places to visit and to eat, we first hire a bus bust to the Chowk area where we found Rahim’s Hotel for famous RAHIM KI NIHARI-KULCHA. Nihari is a breakfast non-vegetarian dish available in both Buffalo & Goat meat. Its taste was totally different from what I have tested it in Delhi and the Kulcha was he…
