Safe Skin Healthy Baby

Safe Skin Healthy Baby

With a baby comes a responsibility of keeping him/her free from infections, rashes and other ailments. Keeping your baby warm and nourished thus becomes your priority. Newborn skin is delicate and so is the baby's immune system. Chemicals, fragrances, and dyes in clothing, detergents, and baby products can cause newborn skin irritation, dryness, chafing, and rashes. It is important to select correct products and apply proper care to keep a child healthy. I have witnessed caring of several babies around me, babies of my sisters and brother. Most recently i.e. in August 2015 my Bhabhi (sister-in-law) gave birth to twin boys which mean double responsibility which we all share with her. This recent experience makes me learned if not an expert in baby care.

My recent and past experiences with babies helped me formulate these five points to keep babies' soft skin safe:

  1. Resist the urge to bathe your baby frequently. Too-frequent bathing -- more than three times per week during the first year of life removes the natural oils that protect baby's skin. That may leave baby's skin vulnerable and dry. It may also aggravate eczema. Except for drool and diaper changes, newborns don't get very dirty.  For the first month or so a sponge bath two or three times a week will keep your baby safely clean. In between, simply clean baby’s mouth and diaper area with a little water or cleanser.
  2. Proper Diapering is must to prevent skin rashes. If you don't select a proper diaper, it may leak making baby's skin wet for longer time causing skin rashes. So you must check diapers regularly and changed them if they get wet, let the diaper area air-dry before putting a new diaper to prevent rashes. It is necessary to select a proper diapers and Pampers is an excellent brand for this.
  3. Don't use scented baby products during early months. They may contain harmful chemicals which can irritate baby's delicate soft skin. It is better to select baby products on doctor's advice. Today's babies are more sensitive than they used to be in past so old home made traditional products should also be used with care.
  4. Clothing material for babies should be selected carefully and there is also a need to wash baby's clothes, bedding and blankets separately from family's laundry. Use only baby laundry detergents that are fragrance and dye-free. It is recommended to read labels carefully for manufacturing and expiry dates along with the ingredients of the product.
  5. Message baby's skin regularly, if possible in mild sunlight before bath. This will not only keeps the skin soft but also makes bones and muscles strong. Here also selecting the correct message oil is necessary. Try to use herbal and Ayurvedic products.
It is also necessary to avoid outings during first year. Exposure to sunlight and pollution can also harm baby skin. Above all these points a mother knows best what is good and bad for her baby and she take all measures to ensure baby's good health. Selecting products which are #SoftestForBabySkin becomes her priority.

“Pampers brings you the softest ever Pampers Premium Care Pants. Its cotton-like softness is #SoftestForBabySkin and allows it to breathe, thus keeping baby’s skin soft and healthy, and your baby happy. ”

Bitter Bread

Bitter Bread
Bread, doubleroti, pao, bun or we call it with any other name; it is the part of our breakfast which completes our daily routine. This ready to eat item is popular with egg and butter but the recent study by Centre For Science and Environment (CSE) have turned this must breakfast eatable bitter.
CSE conducted test on various samples collected from different part of the capital belonging to different brands. They found 84% samples test positive for potassium bromate and potassium iodate after tests on 38 varieties which include Britannia,Harvest Gold,KFC, McDonalds, Domino's Pizza and Subway. These revelations are shocking and disturbing as all of us have eaten from one of these brands. It should also be noted that these two substances which are used to soften breads and enhance their color and texture namely potassium bromate and potassium iodate are banned in many countries of the world after a study conducted in the 90's. These substances however are not harmful a…

Burning Bengal

Burning Bengal
When the nation is in a fix with its relations with China the home is also not right as Bengal is burning from two sides. You can say that I am picking the topic late but I don’t want to spread the rumor without confirming all the sources which is giving news information. Here I should mention that don’t overreact on social media hypes until news are coming from authentic news agencies.
Basirhat communal violence which triggered with a controversial Facebook post by a class 11th student took an ugly turn when Muslim mobs started vandalizing properties of the Hindus but this is only the half story. The calm which prevailed after Thursday is revealing the story that many Muslims saved their Hindu friends and neighbors by confronting the mob. Hindu-Muslim groups are now helping those who have financial losses in shops/business to stand again by helping them with money (Read Indian Express front page of 9th July 2017). Locals knew that mob that attacked in their area were …

Naive Traveler : Delhi Darshan # 4

Naive Traveler : Delhi Darshan # 4

Delhi as we all know is habitat and destroyed several times in different eras since it always remained the central city for each empire. As a result of these variant rulers from ancient times to the British era, Delhi enjoys the status of being witness to their grandeur and glory. Thus we the people of modern day India are privileged to see and feel that aura and ambiance. This was my fourth trip of sightseeing in Delhi and believe me I need many more days to explore the Delhi to its fullest.
This time I chose the places known for its haunted experiences like Bhooli Bhatiyar, Feroz Shah Kotla Fort, Rajon Ki Baoli in Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Giyas-ud-Din Tughlaq Tomb  and Tughlaqabad Fort. The scorching heat of next day of heat digested all our energy so we also visited Indira Gandhi Memorial an all air conditioned museum which rejuvenated us. Since it was not far from Safdurjung Tomb we also give a visit to that place also.
Now talking about m…
