EDITION EXPIRES IN... [THU 10 PM]

Edition 179

Almost one year has passed to his death but she is unable to come out of the void his absence has created in her life. It was not just two months of marriage they had spend together but five years of friendship before taking the decision to marry. They knew each other more than themselves and during the years they study together and then work together their compatibility was noticed by all.

‘O god give why did you this to me.’ She curse god again that day also while returning from the work. She has adjusted to her life but couldn’t get over his memories working in the same place they used to work together. ‘Do you want to bring him back,’ she heard a voice from behind but when she turned back no one was there. She walked in the direction of the voice. The voice came several times without anyone around who was speaking those words and that voice took her to the deserted place behind her office road.

‘Come here’ she heard from trees’ behind and saw a hermit sitting there. He indicated her to sit opposite him. ‘I have heard you cursing god for snatching your husband from you.’ He said politely after opening his eyes. ‘Yes,’ she cried,’ HE is cruel to me.’ He listened to her carefully and then spoke,’ see god always has a plan for us but even than I can bring back him so that you can meet him.’ She smiled and was ready for this to happen.

He started some chanting and stopped, ‘before I can do this I wants to tell you something,’ she nodded. ‘You were promoted only after the death of your husband because he delayed it as he wanted you both promoted together. He died of a car accident but if that didn’t happen he soon would suffer a fatal cardiac arrest. Moreover he came back to you only for a short time and that pain of separation which has eased now will be fresh again.’ She listened in shock and even confirmed promotion news from her office. ‘You detached from the world and its people to forget instead you keep him with yourself to live life to its fullest. Don’t go away from him in order to forget him just keep him closer and start a fresh life with him. This will help you to grow further and not stop you to live.’

Those words have magical effect now she doesn’t want to leave his memories but to live his memories with new memories she would make in her life. Calling him back and then separating from him would hurt her more. She now lives a happy life.

Movies Meri Jaan

Movies Meri Jaan

I am a die hard Hindi movie fan. I have watched almost every film released in the last two decades of my birth. The films of 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's I have watched on television or Internet. When I revisit my film watching journey I have realized that I have learnt a lot from them. It was not only entertainment but good behavior, respecting woman, became more law abiding and a positive message that how bad things may become the end would be pleasant.

The simplicity and innocence of 50's, 60's Raju/Birju/Suraj ( Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Rajinder Kumar),  the restlessness and urge to get something of 70's and 80's Vijay, Ravi (Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna) and coolness of 90's 2K's Rahul, Raj, Prem, (Shahrukh, Salman and Aamir) or the realism of today's movies all are imbibed in me, they all have taught something to me. I remember giving examples to teachers from movies to explain certain things and concepts to us in school. I usually relate things to a situation in film to find out solution and to get the way out. Yes it sometimes makes me too filmy but as they say 'Hum Sab To Upar Wale Ke Hato Ki Kathputli Hain, Wo Jaise Chalata Hai Hum Chalte Hain.'

I have learnt that truth is always victorious, ' Sach Aur Sahas Hai Jiske Mann Mein Anth Mein Jeet Usi Ki Hoti Hai' and that happiness is the final outcome of a situation, ' Agar Ending Happy Nahin Hai To Picture Abhi Baki Hai Mere Dost'. Movies gives us hope, dreams and a satisfaction that one day everything will be all right. Films told us that the corruption, poverty, terrorism and other such world problems has a solution. People said that movies have a bad influence on society but I believe that films are the mirror of society; they show what they see. Highlighting issues by them make us more aware of the happenings around.

Today 'Candle March' has became the symbol of protest which was first seen in the movie 'Rang De Basanti'. Bhagat Singh was not popular in the masses unless portrayed by Manoj Kumar in the 60's and Ajay Devgen in 2K's. Paan Singh Tomar's achievement was highlighted by a film on his name. Perhaps people also learn something bad from films but 'Bade-Bade Shehro Mein Aisi Choti-Choti Baatein Hoti Rehti Hai'. Movies keep our dreams alive and I will always give wings to my dreams through movies.

Here is a Hindi Poem written for 100 yrs of Bollywood : Sunhera Parda

The Merchant of Dreams - Narender Modi

The Merchant of Dreams - Narender Modi

There is no doubt in proficient oratory skills of Mr Modi. Even his opponents flabbergasted by his ability to mesmerize and hypnotize his audience are unable to bring someone matching to his skills. Yesterday in his second speech from the Red Fort after flag hoisting he was impressive not only for maintaining his energy in such a humid Delhi atmosphere but for delivering an unwritten speech without any teleprompter and bulletproof screen protection.

His speech mainly covered his achievements of the previous year which are contradictory as compare to the real ground situation. For instance more than 90% of the account opened through Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojana (18 crore approx.) have zero balance in them. Those functional have not received Rs 5000 loan promised after six month's transaction and the 1 lakh insurance was only receivable in accidental deaths. Target of toilets in all primary schools is also not achieved yet. Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana to adopt an develop a village in his/her area by an MP is also under clouds for not getting any directions for the same. More than 100 MP's haven't adopt a village and those who have adopted the villages haven't done much in the area. There is no employment generation which is a clear indicator of failing of Make In India and Skill India in already slow indigenous Indian market. If you are an Internet user than you can judge the best about success claims of Digital India initiative which is incomplete without nationwide Internet coverage and enhanced net speed. The Indian roads, railways, public toilet could explain better about Swach Bharat (Clean India Mission.) The rate of crimes against women is also high.

Looking at the conditions of previous year's announcements recent declaration about Start Up India, Stand Up India and giving electricity to 1.8 lakh villages 1000 days appears only dreams. From his journey as PM candidate till now he was selling only dreams to the people of India. Dreams for which he don't have some solid program and policy. It is easy to say than to fulfill which he even admitted during his Mann Ki Baat on the issue of One Rank One Pension. He said that he made the promise to implement it after becoming PM without reading its implications.

The application and announcement are two different things. It is easy to announce things to win people's heart but difficult to make it a reality. The bullet train needs 25 years, Yoga is a personal choice and moral teachings best works in India with strict law only. Moreover, the man who speak so much against corruption, communalism, castism, women safety and other such things remain silent when these things practiced by people within his own party and government. He didn't bother to attend parliament during discussions on these issues. Mr Dream Merchant one can forget and forgive a person who break one's leg but not the person who break dreams. Dreams keep alive the hope and trust in us, if they break we left broken without them. Take all safety precautions because you are playing with fire.

The real independence reside where people have more powers than leaders. They should have say in law making, they should have power to ask questions and they must be protected by law equally. So we are still slaves at hands of few in the power.

God's Creator

God's Creator

We worship god because of the fear of unknown and to understand this properly we need to travel back to the time of the start of human race i.e time of the ancient men. When they were at the stage of evolving to be the modern man we know today, they started succumbing to the things they fear, they bow down to fire, lightning, thunderstorm, volcanic eruptions and other such natural phenomenon whenever they were frightened by these things. With growth of civilizations men started worshiping other things which help them to sustain in this world like rain, some cattle and food they grew, it was unknown how these gods acquired name or got a face, perhaps those who guided them in difficult times became faces and names of those god as the civilization progressed. Thus gods were invented out of fear of the unknown.

Now lets examine the scientific perspective. Science call god as 'Nature'. Nature which is the unexplainable and unknown power, the things which occurs on their own which don't have any scientific explanation like ,What initiated the formation of planets and stars? How life comes to earth ? Who gives life ? What happens after death? These and other such questions give way to the emergence of God as Nature in science and again notice it is the one which is unknown who became the creator.

Some wise people would have thought in their times that there must be something which should restrict and limit the human race otherwise those who were powerful would make it difficult for weak to survive in the world that's when the concept of god emerged. We do good things to elevate self to heaven after death, bad people goes to hell which is a bad place with demons where they boil you in hot oils for your bad deeds. You have to, you must be good to others, to those who are weaker than you, to those who are less privileged than you and we all do this to go to heaven,

We need not to fear any god if we are good to humans to humanity. Our souls must be rest in peace when we are alive for what we do in our lives and not necessarily in the so called life after death. If there is God somewhere around HE is in us, His most precious creation and we must respect his creation to appease him. Still after so much discussions and proofs that god is our creation I must insist on believing in Him because that keeps our hopes alive in the difficult times.

He Who Would Sow Well, Must Reap Well

He Who Would Sow Well, Must Reap Well

This saying has a positive effect, it encourages us to do good so that we also receive good from others and most of the time this statement holds its ground but not always. Recently we receive a stab on our backs by one of our close relatives which made me rethink about that statement.

Let me explain you the details. We ( my brother and I ) are manufactures of men's attire. We decided to open a retail outlet and since we both remained occupied in office and factory my brother decided to call our relative who at that time was facing financial crisis due to loss in business. Moreover we also observed that there were no chances in near future for him to recover those losses and came back on track. We offered him partnership in that retail outlet and when he asked about the investments we assured him keeping his financial condition in mind that it was not much while we made the initial investments.During this period he cleared most of his dues and started preparing for a manufacturing unit like us which we ignored. Lots of petty things happened in between and finally it was decided after three years that we would leave that shop because there was not much profit in it or I could say that he was looking for his own profit neglecting our investments.

It was during the time of accounts that he showed his real colors and blamed us for cheating with him. It appeared hilarious to us since he was maintaining the accounts by himself and all sales and purchases were first passed his eyes and then came to us only he could change those records. In these three years his condition has improved financially but I am sorry to say that he deteriorated morally. He changed his eyes and talked in higher tone. My brother hurt more by his behavior because he was the one who brought him for the shop and gave him partnership even after disagreement by me and our mother.

But anyways he took few lacks of money by some manipulations in accounts and his conscience. Loss of money is repairable but he has lost respect and reputation from us which is irreparable. Now coming back to the saying, ' He who would sow well, must reap well'. After looking back to the whole episode I think it is right we have reaped well in this, we have learned a lesson not to trust anybody blindly. In the end it is good heart and inner beauty of your character which matter the most. His face betrayed us but his soul exposed his character completely.

All other relatives stand by us but we still gave him the desired amount of money. We got attracted and misguided by the superficial looks of a person but it's the inner soul which matters the most.So always do good for others but be cautious in today's world.

Hindi Hain Hum Watan Hai Hindustan Hamara?

Hindi Hain Hum Watan Hai Hindustan Hamara? (Part 3 of India Series)

(Inter - Religion marriage still taboo among Indians ? What is your take on it .)

We as Indians are still confused for our cultural identity i.e who we are as residents of this country. Hindu,Hindustani,Indian,Bharatiya,Hindi or something else. When there is so much struggle in conveying our identity then how people who consider even inter-caste marriages as taboo would accept Inter - Religion marriages. We are all united under our constitution which make all of us equal and grants freedom to follow any religion. An adult individual thus holds the freedom to choose his or her partner regardless to any religion. The constitution also declares India as Bharat or India and not as Hindustan which denotes its secular identity not related to a particular religion. How a Christian, a Muslim, a Parsi, a Buddhist be Hindu ? If it is so then where is freedom of religion? Why can't one be Indian Muslim, Indian Christian, etc?

Many radical groups taking advantage of this situation in the country always creates an atmosphere of fear among minorities. They inculcate feeling of hatred among each other which stood as the main reason for opposing inter-caste marriages. They considered them as the sole bearer of our traditional and cultural values are working against the constitution. They are the ones who set rules for follower of the religion they belong and separates them from followers of other religion. They mishandles those who marry outside their religions and boycotts them from society. They pressurizes parents by threatening them of ill consequences of their approval of such marriages resulting in non-acceptance by families. But these groups are not the only reason.

We are reared in such a way that we considered those different from us as untouchables and  recognizes someone on the basis of his or caste and religion and not merely as human beings. Our society is wearing a glass which discriminates rich-poor, Hindu-Muslim,upper caste-lower caste and many other such differences it never views the society as one with a glass which could show the commonness of humans and that love is what all religion teaches. It's the common thread of love which binds human race together. Imagine what result this inter-religion marriage would be on our society. The children born with such marriages would be free to choose any religion, they would be born Indians and not as Hindu,Muslim,Sikh, etc. They would know the best of both religion.

World is changing,India is changing. Marriages are breaking more rapidly, understanding one another is more important than understanding religions. So to find perfect match is more important than to find it in our religion. When we believe that couples are made in heaven then why it is important that they must be of same faith. It would be better for the society to accept them. Lets not bring religion between love. Let humanity be the guiding star for society. Acceptance would stop the crimes of honor killing thriving in the society. I would like to recall Iqbal's lines from 'Sare Jahan Se Achcha' that:
Mazhab nahin sikhata aapas mein bair rakhna,
Hindi hain hum watan hai hindustan hamara.

( Religion doesn't teach us to bear ill-will among ourselves,
We are of Hind (India), our homeland is Hindustan (India).

Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyara Hai?

Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyara Hai? ( Part 2 of India Series)

Independence Day, one of the few days when we remember greatness of India. Feels proud of being Indian, sing patriotic songs, watch patriotic movies and enjoy this whole day being a holiday. But forget these things after that. Are we Indians only for day or two? Do we really feel proud of India and Indianness? Sadly answer to this questions comes out in negative. One bad habit of Indians which I would like to change for our India is not thinking India as their Identity.

We can find a Hindu, a Muslim, a Sikh, a Christian, an upper caste, a lower caste, majority, minority, a Bengali, a Marathi, etc, etc. but not Indians. This species is either extinct or is critically endangered species. We have forgot our roots, our composite cultures, our blended traditions, our common problems, our similar motives and are projecting ourselves different from one another just to ruin at the hands of few politicians who bake their bread on fire of such issues. We are divided in regions, religions and color.

After Independence the new government took the steps to unite India into one nation under Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's monitoring who took this daunting task in his hand and created The Union of India. It was possible because we have combined histories, the problems we faced under Britishers were not different from each other, they exploited us and our nation in the same way. It was only amalgamation of our strong intentions against them and for our country which gave us independence. This independence appears in danger when we fight with each other on bases of our differences. We all are one even if we are separated in our cultures, traditions, geographical regions, religions, cast and creed, that's what makes us Indian and we should proud of our Indianness.

Moreover constitution of India grants us similar rights which we should respect equally for others as we deserve for us. This bad habit of not considering India as our first identity is the root cause of many other problems prevailing in the country and only leads to violence and hatred for each other. India is build on value of love so we should concentrate to spread only love. Next time when someone ask you who you are? Tell him/her that you are Indian from India. Here is the song Bharat Humko Jaan Se Pyara ( India is dear to us more than our lives) composed by A.R.Rehman and sung by Hariharan which we should remember in such difficult and dividing time :
