The Islam I know !

The Islam I Know

The Islam I know is totally different from the public perception. It not in a single word promotes terrorism. I learned about Islam from my mother, father and from maulvis (Islamic teachers) in the local mosque but never ever I felt they are promoting hatred against another religion or faith in me. I always remember my father and brother playing Holi with equal enthusiasm as their Hindu friends. Not only them I also played Holi along with my Hindu and Muslim friends, similarly they visited our house to be part of Eid celebration.

My mother who is the grand-daughter of an Imam (mosque priest) never stopped us visiting Hindu temples. I was the regular visitor to temples during Janmashtami and other such festivals. There are no objections in our home on our visits to Gurudwaras, Temples or Churches. When I went to Mount Abu in Rajasthan which is famous for Jain Temples in a school trip no one taught me to stay away from the Jain temples there and I visited all of them.  My mother and sisters make special dishes during Hindu festivals also and in our office we distribute gifts and bonuses to staff during Diwali and not during Eid.

Imams and Maulvis in our local mosque and madarsa where I learned Quran teaches us to be good human beings which they say is equal to being a good Muslim. ‘Your Eid celebrations are complete only if your neighbors are also happy’ this is what he said during this year’s Eid namaz (prayer) emphasizing on words neighbors and mentioning ‘without looking at his or her religion’. In my childhood we use to perform Ramlila in our locality where I played the character of ‘Lakshmana’. This Ramlila was performed by both Hindu and Muslim children.

I am not trying to clarify anything about Islam because except few everybody knows that it is not the religion which spread terrorism but the people who follow them. Today’s world is full of people who are deprived of something by someone that nothingness in their life can be easily filled by terrorists to promote their agenda. It has become a business which has its own targets, clients, sponsors and customers the success of which depends on the amount of differences they have created with their acts of violence.

In the internet connected world search engines are the source of information. We clarify our doubts from there instead of asking elders or teachers. Terrorists picked individuals from there and divert them to their agenda with misinformation, fake information and hitting their emotions with the stick of religion. Peace in the world is the biggest enemy for many and hate is the tool which they use to disturb it. There is only one solution to the problem i.e. Love for all.

Fragile Religious Sentiments

Fragile Religious Sentiments

"Kindness is a mark of faith, whoever is not kind has no faith." - Prophet Mohammad

Fragile religious sentiments or ignorance of the followers? Basic principle of every religion is almost same. All religions have same teachings but different gods it’s like so many different companies making same product with a different name. Except some beliefs every religion teaches us the same kindness, humanity, caring and forgiveness. Messengers, gods, prophets or anyone related to any religion are figures of idealism. Their lives are examples to be followed by their believers.

Now I come back to my question fragile religious sentiments or ignorance of the followers? Followers of every religion, sect or community get offended easily if someone criticizes their religious beliefs it is because of their ignorance they don't argue with criticizers instead try to abuse or physically hurt or kill the criticizers. Situation became out of control when so called torchbearer aka god-mans, mediators between god and follower took things in their hands. They instigate ignorant believers into doing things which appease them and their political allies.

Recently Kiku Sharda famous comedian best known for his role as Gulgule in Sab TV's FIR and Palak in Colors' Comedy Knights with Kapil arrested for mimicking Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh of Dera Sacha Sauda. Baba's followers get hurt seeing him mimic their sacred leader. What about us who hurt seeing him as hero on silver screen? Interestingly Baba himself is seeking pardon from Sikh community for hurting their sentiments by behaving as Guru Gobind Singh.

Muslim community staged nationwide protests because Kamlesh Tiwari member of a right wing Hindu organization defamed Prophet Mohammad. One such protest in Kaliachak of district Malda, West Bengal became violent and some of the protesters set a police station, some BSF vehicles on fire. Last year Hindus were also hurt by the depiction of Hindu Gods in the movie PK and some theaters in many parts of the country were attacked for showing the film. Renowned painter M.F.Husain forced to leave India for improper depiction of Hindu Gods. Christians were offended during release of Da Vinci Code. Sikhs became violent when Guru Granth Sahib was damaged and Prophet Mohammad's cartoon violated Muslim's religious sentiments.

Sometimes I think about futility of all Gods who don't have power to stop their insult. How easy is to make a believer angry? Question his/her god and be ready to face the consequences, your rational thinking may be wrong but not the things written in scriptures long ago?If a religion stops rational thinking, I stop blindly following that religion. It is also strange that those who get offended by questioning/mimicking/representing/drawing/ god or His messengers remain unaffected when His creations suffers. So make beliefs in your god strong and respect His sense of judgment. If what He did is always right than whatever He is doing is also right. Stronger beliefs mean stronger sentiments which wouldn't hurt easily. God Bless Himself, His Followers and India.

God's Creator

God's Creator

We worship god because of the fear of unknown and to understand this properly we need to travel back to the time of the start of human race i.e time of the ancient men. When they were at the stage of evolving to be the modern man we know today, they started succumbing to the things they fear, they bow down to fire, lightning, thunderstorm, volcanic eruptions and other such natural phenomenon whenever they were frightened by these things. With growth of civilizations men started worshiping other things which help them to sustain in this world like rain, some cattle and food they grew, it was unknown how these gods acquired name or got a face, perhaps those who guided them in difficult times became faces and names of those god as the civilization progressed. Thus gods were invented out of fear of the unknown.

Now lets examine the scientific perspective. Science call god as 'Nature'. Nature which is the unexplainable and unknown power, the things which occurs on their own which don't have any scientific explanation like ,What initiated the formation of planets and stars? How life comes to earth ? Who gives life ? What happens after death? These and other such questions give way to the emergence of God as Nature in science and again notice it is the one which is unknown who became the creator.

Some wise people would have thought in their times that there must be something which should restrict and limit the human race otherwise those who were powerful would make it difficult for weak to survive in the world that's when the concept of god emerged. We do good things to elevate self to heaven after death, bad people goes to hell which is a bad place with demons where they boil you in hot oils for your bad deeds. You have to, you must be good to others, to those who are weaker than you, to those who are less privileged than you and we all do this to go to heaven,

We need not to fear any god if we are good to humans to humanity. Our souls must be rest in peace when we are alive for what we do in our lives and not necessarily in the so called life after death. If there is God somewhere around HE is in us, His most precious creation and we must respect his creation to appease him. Still after so much discussions and proofs that god is our creation I must insist on believing in Him because that keeps our hopes alive in the difficult times.

Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jata Ho Jata Hai

Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jata Ho Jata Hai.

You may wonder why I am humming this song written by Anand Bakshi for movie Woh Saat Din (1983, Music Director- Laxmikant-Pyarelal) which translates into ' Love is not planned it happens '.
This song came in my mind while thinking about ' Love Jihad ' a new phenomenon to spread hatred and creating misunderstanding between the communities.

Before going further in this topic lets understand what is Jihad. Jihad means 'struggle' , it is striving in the way of Allah. This is the most misinterpreted word in of Quran in the modern world. Essentially Jihad is an effort to practice religion in the face of oppression and persecution. The effort may come in fighting the evil in your own heart, or in standing up to a dictator. Military use is included as an option, but as a last resort and not ' to spread Islam by the sword' as the stereotype would have one believe. Many fundamentalists spread terror and violence in the name of Islam and Jihad. It is better to take actions against them rather than seeing the whole community with a same eye.

Now come to 'love jihad',  according to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) , some BJP MLA's and MP's and RSS it is :
  • A type of terrorism funded by some terrorists organisations in PoK , Pakistan and some Arab countries.
  • Handsome Muslim boys are trained to lure non-Muslim girls by changing their names.
  • They dressed in branded clothes, carry expensive phones , roam in costly bikes so that non-Muslim girls started loving them.
  • They eloped with these girls and marry them.
  • Force girls after marriage to accept Islam.
These people and organisations also states that rates were fixed for girls of different religion which these boys received for this task of luring them. They then dictate parents how to save their girls :
  • Don't give mobile phones to girls.
  • Accompany girl when they go to markets and keep them away from Muslim shops and shopkeepers.
  • Keep an eye on their activities.
  • Take out them from Muslim majority schools or colleges.
  • Marry them as soon as possible with suitable boy of their castes.
Women organisations and some scholars believes this strategy as another weapon of patriarchal society to keep women in limits of four walls of the house so that they will not reach ahead of men.
I don't know why these people questions the intelligence of girls. Did they believe that girls are foolish and don't have mind of their own to be lured by things like branded clothes, expensive accessories to love someone.

Some Yogis and Sanyasis who are giving hate speeches don't understands love. A sanyasi for me is one who have abstained himself from the worldly pleasures for the love of god. How one who loves god discriminate between HIS most precious creation humans on the basis of religion. It is a proven fact that nobody can force anyone to love someone, love is a natural feeling.

The previous reported cases of love jihad in Kerala and Karnataka were proved baseless and those which are presented in the recent scenario have loopholes in them. An inquiry made on love jihad after Kerala reporting revealed that there is no proof of any organised gang behind these incidents. Don't we see betrayal in same religion weddings? Some incidents of betrayal in inter-religion marriages buttered with baseless charges are highlighted to break the thread of oneness just for political gains. I am glad that recent by-polls in UP where 'love jihad' was used saw failure of those using it which means voters understood that unity is required for the development, violence would harm both sides.

It is also necessary to mention that forced conversions are prohibited in Islam. Moreover how can one accept another religion without understanding and assimilating it in one's heart. If forced one can pretend to save oneself and then complaint about it. Why the cases reported coming out after so many years of marriages and that to before by-polls and some state assembly elections? We need to be careful with these propaganda which are hampering national integrity and unity. Pyaar ko pyaar hi rehno do koi naam na do ( Don't give any name to love, let it be love only.)

Let's end this post with that song from the movie Woh Saat Din, : ' Pyaar kiya nahin jata ho jata hai'
