Bollywood@100

Bollywood@100

Apart from print and television media one thing which contributes most in framing public opinion is Cinema. A medium which is immensely popular among the masses and means a lot to them. Hindi Cinema or Bollywood as it is popularly called is part of each one of us and it has completed its hundred years.

Since first film Raja Harishchandra made by DadaSahab Phalke it has never look back and today it is the most successful film industry in the world. Early films were silent and mostly based on mythological themes as  it was considered taboo to watch films or to work in them and for women it was strictly banned which was also the reason that initial films cast male actors in female roles.

Films are always a face of changing society,it is a mirror which shows what exists in our country and the world. As female progresses soon they also started working in Indian films, after independence films started taking subjects of social importance, films like Do Beega Zameen, Mother India, etc projected plights of farmers,Shree 420 was based on theme of black marketing. There were films like Pyasa,Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai,Boot Polish,Jagriti,Biraj Bahu,Kagaz Ke Phool,Awara,Dhool Ka Phool, etc. which highlighted various social, political issues. As Indian society progresses so is the cinema angry young energetic Vijay,Ravi of 70's took place of Raju,Birju of 50's and 60's.They are characteristics of the unrest of that time due to corruption, black marketing, unemployment, etc. Later in 90's there place was taken by Raj,Rahul,Prem, etc which concerns only about there love life and how to get there love. They are modern, carefree and knows what they want. Heroines also changes in this pattern, early female characters were home bound,in 70's they are modern, working women. 90's shows the female characters as one which has its choice of its own and now the modern women is bold, fearless and sometimes more powerful than its male counterpart.

In these 100 years films have become an integral part of our life, one forgets all his problems, tensions and worries as soon as one enters in a cinema hall. It keep alive the flame of hope that everything will be soon all right, it gives dreams, shares sorrows, fought for our rights, show us the right path, make us aware of problems in other parts of our country and world, put forth social problems, finds solutions and so on.

Today worlds watches Indian films. Our male and female actors are known world over,in most parts of the world India is synonyms with Bollywood. Some might say that it maligns our culture, tradition, social values, etc but in reality it shows what is all ready happening in our homes, communities and society. It make us aware of things and alert against the evils in society.

Note: If anybody feels like commenting for the post please also mention the name of your favorite hindi film. Thank you.

Rape In Delhi

Rape In Delhi

We all get angry when things don't happen as it should be and than take out our frustrations on those who are responsible for that same as angry birds do with pigs in famous game series. We throw ourselves here and there, while in games it clear the stage but in real life it creates hurdle in our further movement and many times the main reason behind our anger go unnoticed.

Here I am talking about the rape incidents happened and happening in capital of India Delhi and futile demonstrations that follows. While people in anger protesting for death penalty for rape accused some political parties jump in them for political gains and thus turn the issue to some another level and then they blame each other, ask for resignations and so on. In this real issue get lost. Rape is not a Delhi problem but a problem for India, incidents happening in other parts of country are also heinous and painful but they don't get sympathy of these political parties because media coverage is low there.

The solution is still not available, factors responsible for rape are ignored, society responsibility for incidents is zero, police training for such sensitive situations is not provided and some of us are indifferent to the conditions. In patriarchal societies women are soft targets, they are not treated as equal to men and lots of burden and responsibilities are attached to them only, unless women are treated as human beings they will remain target to such crimes. Javed Akhtar's statement in Rajya Sabha is right in saying that there are many forms of women other than a mother which should also get equal respect as given to a mother in our culture, tradition and country.

The lesson of gender equality should be taught in schools. A death penalty will only kill criminal but not his crime which will remain alive in society even after his death. A person committing rape must be aware  what shameful act he has done. There should be a social boycott of such peoples and they must face public insult. We should be aware and alert about people around us and there intentions. Police verification of tenants is must, community gathering should be there to know our neighbours and there should be talks in families about such issues.

Lack Of Humans

Lack Of Humans

This Sunday a man in Jaipur learnt so many things in less than an hour after he with his family met with an accident in Jaipur road tunnel. First thing he learned was that it's our duty to follow traffic rules and not of traffic police to make us follow them. Two wheelers are not permitted inside that tunnel road where accident took place, moreover no one was wearing any helmet, this resulted in death of his wife and an infant baby when a speeding truck hit them inside the tunnel. But traffic police let him go inside the tunnel without helmet and also speeding truck was not stopped.

Actually accident was not the main reason for these deaths, the victims remain unattended for about forty minutes even when so many vehicles were passing by the site looking at the incident as mere spectators, the footage of incident on news channals make me recall the lines of a song from hindi classic Pyasa(1957) "Jinhe naaz hai hind par wo kahan hain",which means "where are those who are proud of India". How cruel is to see someone loosing her life? How inhuman is to let an infant die? Kanhaiya Lal Raigar was the name of that man whose wife and child was died. He was caught on camera crying for help along with his four year old son after the tragedy but sadly no one come forward. His cries were ignored by the motorist and they passed by without stopping. Someone came after 40 minutes and helped him in calling police and relatives ,police took the victims to the hospital but it was too late.

Is this the same behavior we wants other to do when we are in that position? Even animals don't leave some one wounded, they surrounded it lick its wounds and make all efforts they can do for its recovery. But this shows that we are worse than animals. People in India die everyday of hunger, lack of medical facilities, property disputes, etc. Don't let people die due to lack of humans and humanity.

Dreams Shattered

Dreams Shattered

An unauthorized building was collapsed in Shil-Phata area of Thane Mumbai killing 74 people, culprits were arrested and it was found that municipal corporation officials were also involved with builders in completing this seven storey building. Unauthorized buildings were made, they got collapsed, inquiry commissions set up,culprits get arrested , sometimes sentenced to few years of jail and get released to do this again thus this vicious circle goes on.

Everybody hopes for a home which one can call his own, builders take advantage of this situation, they provide cheap houses low in quality standards and even get clearance (obviously bu greasing palms of related government officials)  thus such incidents happen. Governments are unable to give shelter to each because they themselves wants these builders to flourish as they give huge sum of money in bribes. As far as government housing schemes are concerned which are based on token system usually go to someone related to the official or may be to the officials themselves.

Today we are 66 but still we have people suffering from hunger, having no roofs on there heads and die due to lack of proper medical facilities.Who is responsible? always remains a question. May be we all are responsible in encouraging bribes. We offer bribes to ditch long queues or to make our work done before others, sometimes to get some benefit from that officer and sometimes out of habit. The system will change only when we change ourselves.

Indian Premier League ( IPL)

Indian Premier League ( IPL)

IPL is back with its sixth season, more action more glamour more money and more entertainment. A tournament for shorter form of cricket i.e T-20 is very famous throughout Indian subcontinent and most parts of the world. It brings world together on one stage just for cricket and spirit of the game. New talents from India which struggle throughout there life for name and fame gets it here instantly if they have skills in them, money they get is much higher as compare to Ranji Trophy and other such local tournaments in the country. This also promotes the concept of One World, it washes away regionalism as a player from one region plays for a team of other region or state and cheered by the people for his cricketing skills. With IPL cricket has reached new heights, those who don't like to watch it before now eagerly waits for it. We have got new stars like Yousuf Pathan,Shikhar Dhawan,Ravindra Jadeja, etc from this. It has also helped in removing rivalry of Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds as they both played for the same team.

But as I also look at the other side of the things,it has reduced players as mere commodities to be sold and bid for money,I must mention that there are reports of match fixings, as so much money is involved in it there are possibilities of more such incidents, also where there is money there is politics Kochi team was discontinued after brief introduction due to political involvement in this team, after much parties are reported with incidents of eve teasing and molestation, drunken players and team owners also came under scrutiny for there behaviour and Shah Rukh Khan's ban from Wankhede Stadium is an example of this. There are tax issues with teams and game is played for not winning or loosing but for profit and loss, the loss has made owners of Team Hyderabad to leave it for some other company.

Moreover I would like to say that in spite of pros and cons of IPL it is an family event, a carnival like situation where for two and a half months people really get glued to it and often get relief from there boring day to day life and useless serials on TV and remember this year SIRF DEKHNKA NAHI, get up and  Jhampak Jhapak Jhampak

Asaram Bapu

Asaram Bapu

Asaram Bapu is a spiritual leader lives in Ahmedabad of Gujrat State in India. He has many followers, his teachings are valuable to them, they believe in him to the extent that they consider him as equivalent to God. He has lavish ashram's in all over the country for his spiritual teachings and where he give shelter to many homeless and needy people. There are around 350 ashrams where everybody is welcome without any discrimination of race, religion and financial status according to his website. These things really present him in heavenly lights.

But there is another side of him which I would like to mention. He had to him attached so many controversies like land encroachments in Navsari district,in Madhya Pradesh, charges of attempted murder, deaths of children in his ashram, etc. These charges often termed as allegations put on him by his enemies, what is truth behind them is still under probe and it will be unfair to judge him with these charges. But what he said about Delhi Gang rape victim and then what happened during his holi celebrations recently are enough to understand his spirituality. He wasted thousands of litres of water in states where people are facing droughts,he spoke indecently about Delhi Gang rape victim and he never apologized for his actions.

A spiritual leader should think twice before speaking as his teachings influences others, one who believes that a rape victim is equally responsible for what happened to her will only teach disrespect to women among his followers. I don't know why people are so crazy about spiritual gurus, babas and other such godly people in our country, it has become a big business, babas are used politically to influence voters, they are a way to turn black money into white. Every second day there is a news about a fraud baba but still we are crazy about them. Next time if you wants a way to God search inside yourself before going to any guru or baba and the money you wants to give to them use to feed someone hungry.

Cooking Justice

Cooking Justice

People in India pray not to fall prey to hospitals and courts because once you go there your rest of life will be spent in dates given by them. You can come out of clutches of such hospitals by spending lots of money in private hospitals but for courts there is no hope. People spend there whole lifetime in jails for small thefts without being heard in courts. Some died in the course of trial without charges being probed against him/her. Forget about thousands and millions of cases pending in our courts about which we don't have any idea of there whereabouts but high profile cases like that of Babri Masjid, Mumbai Blasts of 1993, Aarushi Murder case of Ghaziabad,Gujrat Riots,2007 Hyderabad blasts,1984 Sikh riots,Bofors,Bhopal Tragedy and recently Delhi gang rape, etc.

There are so many other cases of such high value to public which are in courts since always, there is no justice in such cases, either the culprit died a natural death or remain in 5 star arrangements of Tihar Jail or any other jail in India. If  any how justice comes in these cases it was so late that its effect and impact was almost zero in society and on  masterminds of other such crimes. In India justice is cooked before presenting and in this process it's either remain over cooked or under cooked to be swallowed by the victim/s and others associated with them. These cases are used for political gains and thus remain alive in public domain.

But there is also an other side of it,the positive side where each one gets a fair trial and gets a chance to present his or her side to the court unlike other countries where there is no fair trial and some innocent people also get judgement which they don't deserve, but there are so many cases in Indian courts that justice tend to be delayed and thus justice delayed is justice denied. There is an urgent need for judicial makeover and this must be among manifestos of political parties for 2014 elections.

Incredible India

Incredible India!

India is incredible and there is no doubt about it,not only we believe it but the whole world is with us in this view. Since ancient times our country is a matter of interest for the universe for its uniqueness. Uniqueness in thoughts in culture,in tradition and in people of the country. Outside world was always curious to know us,we gave the concept of zero, spices, numerical systems, music and many more things to the world. They learn these things from us and developed them further but a thing we give to the world is still with us,we are admired for it throughout the world but not followed on this. The thing I am talking about is peace and non-violence.

Since the time of Gautam Buddha,we taught these concepts but all in vain. The other side of these concepts  is that we are now treated as a country for salvation but not a country of reputation. We are taken as soft targets even by smaller and weaker countries like Pakistan,Srilanka,Bangladesh,Afganistan, etc. we often pardon them and want to be their best friend even when they spread terror in our country. Developed countries which depend on us for there workforce pressurise and insult us in many issues. Recently two Italian officers who killed our fishermen were ordered to leave the country and they are now not coming back to face the trial, there are many such incidents with American,British or other countries. America destroyed a whole country for killing its people by an organisation and we take life of our country men so lightly that we allowed two killers to leave the country for elections in there nation.

Its good that we are peace loving people and believes in forgiveness and reformation but this portrays us as a soft targets for criminals. Our judicial system has two many loopholes and opportunities that criminal in our country roams freely and commits crime as easily as doing any routine job. This image should be changed and judicial system should be made strong by the government, there is also a need to look at our foreign policy more seriously and project ourselves as a stronger nation to the world.

Minority

Minority

This word is very common in India. But what this means? If we look at the dictionary meaning of this word this means a small number or part esp.a number that is less than half the whole number but in social and political sphere of the country it means privileges and vote bank. Each group or community states it self as minority to enjoy special grants and reservations in various government jobs and educational institutes, some presents themselves as being exploited for being in minority, so called majority in turn accuses injustice to them in providing special treatment to minority. Also there are so many minorities in India, religious minorities, cast based minorities, region based minorities, language based minorities and so on and there are also many political and non political representatives of these minorities which fought for there cause.

My purpose for writing this article is not to become another supporter to these groups but to mention another minority which is neglected and don't even have any representative. The honest citizen of country which actually suffered a lot.

They are the people which care for nation, region, religion, family and everything else but there is no one to care for them. A honest person doesn't get a good job and if so others put difficulties in there honest functioning be it Satendra Dubey of Bihar, Zia Ul Huq of Uttar Pradesh,in education, administration ever where they all fall prey to the system who don't wants them to be loyal to there work and force them to be part of majority i.e. corrupt force. If we look at the other side of the issue lack of representation of such people is responsible for all other problems in the country today.

There is a need to think about this minority, these people don't come from somewhere else but among ourselves. I read a story in childhood which states that to be a true lover of country it is not necessary to be in the armed forces or lead the country but to do our works sincerely and  honestly. If each one of us will play our part properly in any field with which we are associated honestly than there will be a majority in the country ,the majority of honest people. Think of country before yourself in any action you take.

Bomb Blasts

Bomb Blasts

It's now normal in India to have bomb blasts here and there in different parts of the country, latest being held on 21st February 2013 in Hyderabad. Twin blasts in Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad happened in spite of the inputs send by intelligence agency two days before and killed around 16 people and injured hundreds. The issue of intelligence failure is disrupting Parliament now and may be for the days to come but what other side of the issue I am concerned about is the condition of our government hospitals in which injured usually taken.
deccanchronicle image of Osmania Hospital which itself needs treatment.

Our government hospitals are themselves in a very delicate condition and are not suitable for such crises, except few they all need an operation to cure their own disabilities. These hospitals always remain occupied by patients waiting to be treated, patients there are everywhere in corridors,at entrance on beds than how they cater for such victims bombarded to them, I wonder in these blast cases those who died due to lack of medical facilities may be more than those died in blasts. After each blasts different terrorist organisations were charged with the blast charges but the government agencies responsible for conditions of  our hospitals are bigger terrorists than those who plant bombs but no one is there to take responsibility and no one even blame anybody for this. Our politicians should also look in to that matter and try to improve conditions of the hospitals in their constituencies so that no body dies due to lack of medical infrastructure and facilities.

Amazing Teenage Singer

Amazing Teenage Singer

In my quest of life,I mostly roam in books or on Internet or hear people's experiences and also through television and news paper to gather information and experiences. This journey of mine is never ending and teaches me something somewhere. But the incident or situation I am sharing through this blog is felt by me in the real world and the thing what touches my heart and made me compel to write this article is voice of a teenage boy named Md. Faiz whom I met on a marriage I visited with my family. He was from a very small town and cousin to the girl whose marriage I attended.
Somebody told me that he sings very well and than everybody asked him to sing. He sang Sonu Nigam's Apna mujhe tu laga from the movie 1920 Evil Returns. He sang it so well that I wanted the song never come to an end and to keep on listening him but the situation and that gathering was not a place for that to happen as everybody was busy in something and I don't want anybody to neglect such a voice. I asked him that where he had learned singing but he told me that he learned it through watching television and listening radio,he has no professional vocal training as where he lived there are no music schools or music teacher and it is difficult for him to go somewhere else because of his studies and limited resources. Than I decided to record one of his songs and to upload this to youtube to show his talent to the world. Today after uploading this song to youtube , I decided to write this blog on him and share my thoughts about him and his voice. I request all of you to please listen his voice and give your opinion about it so that I can ensure him that he really sings well and deserves to go to heights in singing and only than I can only try to convince his family to send him here in New Delhi where he can get further training in music and may be do something in life. This is my small try for him I hope you all will join this campaign for him with me.
This song which he sings in this video is from the movie Raaz 3 , Zindagi se churake sung by Shafaqat Amanat Ali.

Aam Aadmi Party by Arvind Kejrivaal

“Aam Aadmi Party” by Arvind Kejrivaal

India Against Corruption has finally announced their political party. During this one and a half year or I should say that during the hatching period of their party there was a struggle between themselves to whether launch a party or not, what will be its purpose? How it will function? What it will look like? On all these issues they asked for public opinion through mobile sms and online voting, I think they were not wrong in doing so because you need to have the opinion of those for whom you are doing something or willing to do something but this to have limitations. Even now mobile phone is not available to everyone, secondly everyone is not an active participant in nation building.
Finally on 2nd October 2012,they announced an unnamed party and present a draft of it to the nation, it was strange to know that they are willing to project themselves as national party but remain mum on several issues of national interest like Kashmir issue, FDI, reservation, secularism, etc which are basis of public voting since 1st general elections. Everybody has an opinion about these issues,( everybody here means aam aadmi ) which they share in public frequently and they are discussed among the masses in public gatherings. My question arises here why they put burden back on public when they were asked about such questions?  What if I asked someone about how to construct this house? And in reply to it he asked me the same question that you tell me how to construct this house? And there is a second reason to be against this thought, people here gets easily influenced and this tend to appear in what they say.
Indian public is mature enough to understand the politics better than any political analyst and is maturing day by day by the spread of education and news channels. In such a situations some bunch of people are trying to lead an aware public without showing their leadership skills. Are they believing that only anti corruption speeches and highlighting scams can mobilize the masses against such a system which is rooted even in the citizen of this nation? Is only anti privilege candidate can change the public which create temples for their leader or weigh them with gold, sweets, etc? This country actually requires a leader which make them(citizen of India) to leave their privileges for the sake of nation, who can make them realize their own mistakes and obstructions in the path of building a prosperous nation and tell them how they can be part of such prosperity.

Tragedy Of Being Mr.Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi was always an inspiration for the congress, from ever since he had entered the politics( some people still think he should better be outside it) there were speculations that he will be the next prime minister of India.
But as time passes such speculations rises but Rahul Gandhi falls from being so. Being a politician from such a valuable family and giving such a high promises to the nation his policies, his ideology is still alien to people. Sometimes when he ate in dalit houses (who support their families with difficulty and arrange their meals with lots of efforts) he presents himself as ‘ Mesiha’  for them who will change their destiny but when there was a bill on ‘promotion in reservation’ (which his party bring in haste to divert from Coalgate) he remains quite and his views are unclear to the masses.
It appears that he his a true Gandhian of today of believes in Gandhi’s monkey philosophy but with a twist. Gandhi ‘s monkeys say never to listen bad things, never to hear bad things and never to speak bad things while Rahul Gandhi follows it as never to say anything, never to speak anything and never to hear anything. His silence on very big issues of the nation is slap on those faces who thinks to promote him as future PM. Nation is not in a position to carry another PM (like Manmohan Singh) who had sealed his lips on every issues.
Why Rahul Gandhi is in national politics? Why he project himself as future PM? Why he believes he has the power to bring a change in nation? Is to bring younger generation to politics without assigning any bigger role to them will do anything?  If Rahul Gandhi by chance reads this blog please speak something about  inflation or corruption or CAG or CBI or anything of national interest and in a place other than a election gathering.
