Naive Traveler : Delhi Darshan # 4

Naive Traveler : Delhi Darshan # 4

Inside ruins at Tughlaqabad Fort

Delhi as we all know is habitat and destroyed several times in different eras since it always remained the central city for each empire. As a result of these variant rulers from ancient times to the British era, Delhi enjoys the status of being witness to their grandeur and glory. Thus we the people of modern day India are privileged to see and feel that aura and ambiance. This was my fourth trip of sightseeing in Delhi and believe me I need many more days to explore the Delhi to its fullest.

This time I chose the places known for its haunted experiences like Bhooli Bhatiyar, Feroz Shah Kotla Fort, Rajon Ki Baoli in Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Giyas-ud-Din Tughlaq Tomb  and Tughlaqabad Fort. The scorching heat of next day of heat digested all our energy so we also visited Indira Gandhi Memorial an all air conditioned museum which rejuvenated us. Since it was not far from Safdurjung Tomb we also give a visit to that place also.

Now talking about my haunted experience I feel none at any place. Nor any Djins in Feroz Shah Kotla, Tughlakabad Fort neither in any other place. But there was an experience which all four of us believe was an encounter with ghosts. In Bhooli Bhatiyar area when the main fort was close for renovation we went ahead to a deserted cinema hall in that area which a guard told is haunted with ghosts. There while asking the way to that place we saw five kids who told us to go ahead on the road to see that place. We are in an auto in which they also wanted to sit because they were going to the same place but we refused them because we didn’t have space to accommodate them. When we went to the place they told we saw nothing and we came back on the same route this time no children were standing there. Neither they encountered us on the way back nor did we spot them around that place.

I don’t know but they were ghosts or not but that was a mysterious incident. Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Tughlaqabad Fort should be lighted and water/toilet facilities should be available in that place. Bhooli Bhatiyar in Karol Bagh is a deserted place which you can go with friends for some haunting experiences but not a place to visit with family or girlfriend/boyfriend. Tughlaqabad Fort is ruined and crumbling lacking facilities for tourist/visitors. It also needs a renovation so that coming generations can see this. I am sharing some of the pictures of these areas.

It was around that area we saw those children.

The Lost Love (Part - 1)

The Lost Love (Part - 1)

Abhishek was happy after talking to Saya his new-found online friend on phone. This was the first time he talked with her and the icing on the cake was her acceptance of his offer to meet him. He first encountered with Saya’s write up on writeupcafe.com , he was so much impressed with her writing that he started following her and spend long hours online to get a chance to talk to her. Every article, poem, story of her mesmerized him to an extent that he read them again and again.

Saya’s writing came to him as a welcome relief after his breakup from Sandhaya . He felt that she was writing for his condition, to ease his pain, to lift his spirit. Each word of her filled his heart once again with love whose arrival he thought impossible when Sandhaya left him abruptly few weeks ago. He knew Sandhaya from his childhood, their parents were family friends so they automatically became friend when they were children. The childish affection grew into unbreakable friendship of the teenage which further converted into love. They never felt the need to admit their love because it was understandable with the way they treated each other.

But the fruit of love ripen only after the test of time.  Things changed between them after completing their studies when they were searching for jobs in order to pursue the career of their choice. Abhishek started getting irritated with Sandhaya’s undue concern for him. He felt her obsession for him was ruining his life. He was unable to concentrate on his career goals. She inquired about his whereabouts every time he was away from her and when he got a job in a multi national company she also applied for a job there which annoyed him.

“Sandhaya! Stop following me like this we are not children now.”  He said sternly.

“But we are still friends and I love you. I always wanted to be with you.” She said in her usual enthusiasm without bothering about his anger. Her behavior further angered him.

“Stop your nonsensical talks. For the god’s sake give me some space in my life.” He turned his face away from her.

“Oh! You don’t even wants to see my face. You are a changed man Abhishek. I never expected this from you.” She started crying.

“You forced me to behave in such a way by sticking with me like a ghost.” He didn’t care that she was crying.

“These silly concerns about you, caring for things you like, …” she continued talking while sobbing ,”these used to be the things you liked in me and now you are saying that these things are burden on you. My continuous talking which you see as fulfillment of your nature of taking less now annoying you.”

They both remained silent for some time and then she spoke again,” Abhishek I think  my time in your life is over and you are right that we must find our own ways.”

He realized that evening that he was too harsh on Sandhya but she never spoke to him after that incident and within a week of it she went to London for a job she rejected before to be with him. Although he wanted that she didn’t interfere in her life he never wanted her out of his life because he knew how difficult it was for him to live without her. She was his only friend and he knew that she too didn’t have any friends in her except him but strong love give rise to strong anger.  She didn’t give her phone number to him and when he got it from her parents she didn’t responded to his calls. He was shattered with her behavior and consoled himself that she would be fine with time as she could not resist talking to him for a longer time. He started living a lonely life spending most of his free time at home with his computer writing on his blog or just reading what others were writing. Sandhaya’s absence in his life made everything boring for him and it was only after reading the write up titled ‘The Lost Love’ that something sparkled inside him. It was the write up written by Saya.

Scary Ghosts

Scary Ghosts

"We should take him to our community doctor," said senior most member of their group. " I also think so, he is silent from last two days" another group member shared his concern. Madav the youngest member of this group of ghosts who live in the old municipality building was not in his senses from last two days. He was unable to sleep in day and couldn't concentrate in his work at night. All group members were worried about his condition but he didn't speak to anybody about this. His face was pale in fear and he felt tremors sometimes.

They took him to the doctor who was practicing in the same hospital he died after seeing a ghost in his office. He sat there from 1 am to 4 am. Doctor examined him and told others to wait outside , " What happened to you my boy ? " He didn't spoke anything. " Is it the matter of love because I have tasted your blood ,it is not infectious you drinking from right people." He remain quiet, he was unable to forget that night and that scene was moving in front of his eyes. Doctor understanding the situation asked again, " Have you seen a politician." He looked towards doctor , hugged him and started crying. "So this is the matter, tell me what have you seen."

He started remembering that frightful night, doctors called others inside to share his pain. " Two days ago when I was lurking above a peepal* tree and waiting for some to come, I saw a crippled man trying to run with help of his stick ,blood was oozing out from wounds on his body.He hid behind the same tree I was sitting on but few man came and found him then another man looking like their boss came and started abusing him for instigating the people against his corruption. I thought to intervene and scared them so that I could save the crippled man but to my surprise he didn't move at all even when all his men ran away. He said that he was not afraid from me as he had created so many ghosts , when I told him that I could drink his blood he laughed loudly deafening my ears with a face more dangerous and scary than the ghost king. He then leaned on my neck and I became unconscious."

"He was laughing because he had drunk more blood than us in his lifetime and I think he had drunk your blood also that's why you became unconscious." Doctor explained after examining his neck while all others were shivering to think about a creature who could drink their blood. When Madhav recovered in few days they decided to leave that area without knowing that these political ghosts were omnipresent.
