Revisiting Aarushi Murder Case

Revisiting Aarushi Murder Case.

A book Aarushi : Anatomy of a Murder by Avirook Sen and a movie Talvaar directed by Meghna Gulzar made me rethink about Aarushi murder case. I have previously analysed Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case  in my post on the basis of records in the media but the book and the movie have changed my perspective on the case completely. From their point of view the police and the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) did a cover up of the situation and concocted a story under media pressure. There were evidences of presence of other people in the house which was neglected by both the investigation agency during investigation. Based on police theory my analysis of the situation was also one-sided, I have also blamed Talwar couple for honor killing of their daughter although I doubted Aarushi-Hemraj illicit relationship angle but according to police theory no other angle was possible in the case.

I am not changing my position and opinion on the case for book and movie but they do highlight the factual inaccuracy in the case. I am not questioning intelligence of honorable court but the court is bound to witnesses and evidences. The negligent approach of the Uttar Pradesh police in the initial investigation lead to destruction of important evidence which they covered by making a story and then did their best to prove it right. Later Talwar couple was convicted by court on the basis of circumstantial evidence. If police would be more careful, if CBI have taken different approach in the investigation the case would not become a Sherlock Holmes mystery.

This case tells us importance of investigation agencies in solving a case. Their approach towards a case decides the fate of the accused and the justice for the victim. 14-year old Aarushi have suffered a lot in her death. Her character was maligned and everybody believed without any protests. The case must be reopened for a fresh investigation owing to the highlighting of some new aspect of the case. But here we must not forget that since the day of the judgement there were efforts to label all investigation wrong to get acquittal for Talwar couple and this book and movie perhaps is part of these efforts to initiate a revisit on the case.

Whatever be the reason of this new angle and whatever be the fate of this case one point is certain that process. our system is incompetent enough to let us believe about the discrepancies in the investigation.

Book Review - God Is A Gamer

Book Review - God Is A Gamer

God Is A Gamer is written by Ravi Subramanian and is published by Penguin Books. I have received author signed copy of this book from BlogAdda as a part of book review program. Before going to the book I must admit that I haven't read previous fiction works of Ravi Subramanian namely If God Was A Banker, Devil In Pinstripes, The Incredible Banker, The Bankster and The Bankerupt and neither his non-fiction I Bought The Monk's Ferrari and after reading God Is A Gamer I regretted not being aware of his writing before. Ravi Subramanian is a banker by profession writing thrillers related to banks and bankers and this one is also one of them and promoted as world's first bitcoin related thriller.

Cover : The bitcoin symbol in the title hints at its involvement in the plot. The shape of man looking at white house and the tag line ' Is Revenge A Crime?' relates story to the USA and to the white house. The shape of the man is looking confident enough to take his revenge but with whom is the matter of reading. The cover reveals that a narrative of intrigue is waiting for you which happens with the prologue in which so many things were happening but how and why is unknown.

Plot: Gillian Tan a senator and close pal to the president of United States was killed in a car explosion. This case was handed over to Adrian Scott a special agent of FBI on urgent basis. The story revolves around Scott's investigation of this case ,its link to the ATM heist of millions in New York city and with the new virtual currency Bitcoin. His findings about Indian involvement in the heist and Tan's assassination. How he finds its connection with Malvika's suicide a banker in India in his search? What's the role of leading gaming company of India in all these things? The fast paced roller coaster narrative cross gamer, banker, politician and terrorist shocking and surprising the reader at each turn. How Scott solve each puzzle to reach the real culprit is heart pounding. A case which moves from US to India and from India to US via many twists, turns and encounters with technicians, corrupt bankers,CBI, drug peddlers and many more.

Thriller : The tight plot keep you hooked and you try to go through the complete story as soon as possible to know who was pulling strings. The narrative is as quick as the story, the things were coming rapidly leaving you awestruck and surprised. The climax was superb and wasn't in haste. The end is like a some Hollywood thriller movie but is justified looking at the situations. I also liked the detailing of some technical and financial terms. Quick switching of scenes from different places to different people in the end makes you restless and more curious which I think is a right approach to such thrillers.

Spoiler : Complex plot and introducing a new character in every chapter in the start may look bit confusing to some readers. Use of some financial and technological terminology distance it from common readers who are not into thriller genre. Also I think the Bollywood connection is missing in the plot, when so much money, traps, betrayal are happening actors involvement is a must.

Rating : Must read for thriller lovers and a must try for everyone. I will give 3.9/5 to this book.

Diary Confessions - 7

Diary Confessions  - 7

'I was appointed the CVO ( Chief Vigilance Officer ) of this coveted medical institute two years back. Little did I hope that I would do anything in this department of such a prestigious institution known world over but to my surprise I unearthed about a dozen of scams in almost every department from illegally renting hospital space to selling medicines outside to security guard appointment scam ,etc. The politicians and bureaucrats dogs were treated with respect where humans die unattended. I thought that was my duty as a CVO to bring in light these scams and recommended them for CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation ) inquiry.

Few days back the newly appointed health minister removed me saying that I was not eligible for this post which I was holding for two years. Strange ! I was transferred to another state. Today morning I decided to aboard the train without knowing that whole city and nation was behind me, supporting me for what I did. When I reached the platform they gathered around me asking not to go as everyone was standing with me. Tears rolled down my eyes seeing honesty and truth still holds value in today's world. They lifted me on their shoulders and I missed my train.'

Fictional account of what happened with honest Sanjiv Chaudhary CVO at AIIMS. I hope same thing will happen if he tries to leave the city.

Caged Parrot Of India (CPI)

Caged Parrot Of India (CPI)

" CBI a caged parrot speaking in master's voice". This statement by Supreme Court during coalgate hearing was enough to prove the credibility of CBI the main central investigating unit of Indian Government. CBI is reduced to a mere weapon of mass destruction of evidences and a way to hide crucial information and investigations from the masses.

The governments in center use this agency so as to bury allegations over them. There used to be a parrot in arabian nights and Hatimtai's story in which someone puts his on life in it than that person is only killed after killing of that parrot. Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) is also used for that purpose. Government has placed its life in CBI and thus secure itself.

This parrot only speaks against the present governments when these government becomes past i.e when it's master changes. It is an open secret now that this agency is definitely not free which concludes to that the investigations under it are also not free

There is a need for an investigation agency which will work independently and don't act as a puppet under central government,so that scams will be probed and culprits will be punished.
